Privacy & advertising

Clear choices for local discovery.

This notice explains the information PourLocal uses to provide nearby venue discovery, menu contributions, accounts, and advertising.

Last updated September 5, 2026.

Venue discovery providers

We send an approximate search area and your venue search terms to Google Maps when discovery is available. Google listings are displayed for your search without being saved as PourLocal menus. A brewery-directory fallback uses Open Brewery DB. City and postal-code lookup uses Photon and OpenStreetMap data, and your chosen area may be remembered in this browser. Precise device coordinates are not sent to these external discovery providers.

Google Maps features are subject to the Google Maps Additional Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy. See our terms of use.

Information PourLocal uses

PourLocal may use a location you choose to share, a ZIP code you enter, account details, menu photos, reviews, check-ins, and technical request information to provide and secure the service. Browser location is used only when you choose “Use my location.” Your selected area is remembered in this browser until you choose “Forget saved area.” Device coordinates are rounded before saving.

Advertising and cookies

If advertising is enabled, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads based on visits to PourLocal and other websites. Google and its partners may use advertising cookies to provide personalized or non-personalized ads, depending on your choices and applicable law.

You can manage Google ad personalization in Google Ads Settings.

Consent and your choices

Where required, PourLocal will use an approved consent experience before personalized advertising or related storage is used. You may decline or revise choices through that consent experience. You can also block location access in your browser, use ZIP search instead, and control cookies through browser settings.

Sharing, retention, and safety

Information is shared with service providers only as needed to operate, secure, measure, and monetize PourLocal, or when legally required. Your journal entries, ratings, notes, and photo links are private to your account. You can export your complete journal or edit and delete individual entries from My ledger. Account settings provide a profile editor, account export and account deletion. Account deletion removes your journal and profile, releases venue access, and invalidates sessions. Published menu and event contributions, original source menus and review evidence remain attributed to a deleted account. A limited identity reference remains to prevent automatic restoration. Uploaded journal photos are resized and embedded location metadata is removed before storage. Menu contributions are separate and may appear on published venue pages. Information is retained only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes, dispute prevention, and legal obligations.

Partner applications

If you apply to the founding partner program, PourLocal stores the contact name, work email, venue or event name, city, optional website, and goals you submit. This information is used only to evaluate the application, discuss a possible pilot, prevent duplicate submissions, and administer an accepted partnership. It is not sold as an advertising audience. Unneeded applications are deleted after the pilot recruiting period or within 12 months, whichever comes first, unless a longer relationship or legal obligation requires retention.

Questions or requests

You may ask about access, correction, or deletion of personal information. A dedicated privacy contact will be published here before advertising is activated.
